Sarela Tech is seeking a Senior Storage Engineer in Fort Belvoir, VA to partner on a large enterprise IT contract for the Department of War (DoW) to support storage operations across multiple geographic locations. The Storage Engineer SME provides senior technical leadership for enterprise storage services under the Defense Threat Reduction Agency Information Management & Technical Directorate Integrated Information Technology Services (I3TS) contract.
This role architects, implements, and sustains highly available storage platforms supporting mission‑critical I3TS workloads across primary, alternate, and regional environments. The engineer drives performance optimization, capacity planning, and resilient backup and recovery strategies to meet recovery objectives, continuity requirements, and operational service levels. This position ensures storage operations align with organizational and federal compliance requirements and coordinates closely with EOC, infrastructure, network, and security teams.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree with 8‑12 years of prior relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 6‑10 years of prior relevant experience (or equivalent).
- Experience supervising others.
- Extensive experience administering enterprise‑level data storage systems (Dell Storage Center, Dell Compellent, and Data Domain).
- SAN administration including provisioning of LUNs, fiber‑channel zoning, and mapping storage to servers.
- NAS administration (NFS and SMB file sharing).
- Integration with VMware ESX Server.
- Data migration strategies.
- Snapshots.
- Volume replication.
- Managing file and share permissions in an Active Directory environment.
- Storage monitoring and performance tuning.
- Understanding of cloud storage management.
- Extensive experience managing Veritas Rubrik.
- Experience with scripting technologies such as Power Shell.
- Working knowledge of Unix or Linux‑based operating systems.
- Working knowledge of Distributed File System (DFS).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to mentor junior team members.
- Ability to complete complex projects with minimal direction.
- Experience working independently to support a 24/7/365 customer environment.
- Experience contributing to deliverables and meeting performance metrics.
- Experience coordinating with senior management and customers.
- Candidate must meet DoD 8570.11‑IAT Level II certification requirements (currently Security+, CCNA‑Security, GSEC, or SSCP along with an appropriate classroom‑enforced (CE) certification).
- An active Top Secret/SCI clearance is required for this position.
