The Automation & Safety Engineer oversees the development, maintenance, and evolution of the laser machine's automation software, with particular focus on PLC control and the control system architecture. Within this scope, the role integrates machine functional safety, ensuring that the automation solutions developed comply with regulatory requirements and risk analysis throughout the entire product lifecycle. The role acts as an internal technical point of reference for automation and as a coordinator for functional safety issues, in collaboration with the other technical departments involved.

• Oversee the control software architecture, developing and maintaining the automation software and ensuring its consistency, robustness, and scalability;
• Integrate safety functions into the automation system in a structured manner and in compliance with regulations;
• Oversee the drafting and updating of machine risk analyses, ensuring they are aligned with product development;
• Ensure regulatory compliance of the implemented safety functions;
• Contribute to the standardisation and technical documentation of the developed solutions;
• Support colleagues in resolving complex automation and safety issues.

• Development and maintenance of PLC software for the laser machine;
• Configuration and parameterisation of SIEMENS automation hardware;
• Definition and maintenance of the machine's software architecture (structure, interfaces, standards);
• Development and maintenance of the safety PLC and Safety Integrated functions;
• Drafting, updating, and maintaining machine risk analyses, including calculation and verification of the Performance Level (PL), in coordination with software and hardware development;
• Functional validation and troubleshooting support for the complete machine (automation and safety);
• Support for machine testing and commissioning activities;
• Drafting of technical, functional, and safety documentation.

• Degree in Automation Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science or a related field;
• Experience in PLC software development for automated machinery;
• Knowledge of SIEMENS automation systems (TIA Portal);
• Knowledge of machine functional safety principles and risk analysis processes;
• Ability to understand and apply safety regulations;
• Problem-solving skills and ability to work on complex systems;
• Excellent knowledge of English (level B2/C1);
• Good knowledge of Italian (level B2);
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.

• Direct experience in drafting and managing machine risk assessments.
• Use of tools for calculating the PL (e.g. SISTEMA or equivalent).
