Budget Officer
As a Budget Officer at the NH-0560-4 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Serves as the principal advisor to Comptroller leadership on budget formulation, execution, resource allocation, fiscal planning, and funding strategies affecting agency-wide operations.
- Leads the development, integration, and execution of the agency's budget program, including formulation, forecasting, financial analysis, spend planning, and funding recommendations.
- Provides executive-level analyses, briefings, and decision-support products to senior leadership on budgetary, fiscal, and resource management matters.
- Develops budget estimates, funding requirements, projections, and financial models to support strategic planning and mission execution.
- Ensures compliance with appropriations law, fiscal statutes, Department of Defense financial management policies, and applicable federal regulations.
- Analyzes financial data, funding trends, and execution performance to identify risks, opportunities, and resource requirements.
- Oversees the preparation and presentation of budget submissions, financial reports, congressional inquiries, unfunded requirements, and program review documentation.
- Leads continuous process improvement initiatives to strengthen financial management practices, internal controls, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiencies.
- Supervises a team of financial management professionals by assigning and evaluating work, establishing priorities, providing coaching and mentorship, and developing workforce capabilities.
- Exercises supervisory authorities including performance management, leave administration, hiring recommendations, employee development, disciplinary actions, and workforce planning.
- Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex financial issues and ensure effective stewardship of government resources.
- Represents the Comptroller organization in meetings, working groups, audits, inspections, and senior-level forums.
- Performs supervisory and program management responsibilities necessary to support mission accomplishment and organizational objectives.
