Senior Control Validation Security Specialist

We are seeking a Senior
Control Validation Security Specialist to join our team. You will independently execute comprehensive IT and cybersecurity audits across complex systems, networks, and applications to ensure compliance with Federal and DoD standards. You will assess risk, validate security controls, and provide technical guidance to strengthen system security while balancing operational needs. This position will be onsite voir, VA.
- IT Audit Execution: Independently performs end‑to‑end IT audits on complex information systems, applications, and enclaves. Ensure that security controls are properly designed, implemented, and compliant with required standards.
- Security and Risk Assessment: Conducts vulnerability and risk assessments to determine appropriate security requirements. Evaluates system mitigations to verify they adequately address identified risks.
- Cybersecurity Control Validation: Executes security control validation on classified and unclassified systems, networks, and applications. Confirms the effectiveness of current cybersecurity measures through structured assessment methods.
- Technical Security Support: Provides expert guidance on network security, system hardening, and security control implementation. Delivers technical evaluations of customer systems and recommend targeted improvements.
- System Protection and Compliance Assurance: Performs all necessary procedures to safeguard information assets from unauthorized access or destruction. Ensure systems align with Federal, DoD, and DLA cybersecurity policies, standards, and best practices.
- Possesses a certification meeting the DOD 8570.01 IAM level III
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience working with DOD1 8500.2 or NIST SP 800-53, and
- understand the principles of the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience with eMASS
- Strong skills implementing and configuring networks and network components
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving security issues
- Proficiency in basic analytical software such as Microsoft Excel and Access,
- proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, to include Word, Power Point
- Understanding of RMF
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field of study
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must possess a DoD Secret clearance
- Must be able to obtain customer suitability
