Position: Custodian (Day Shift)

Custodian

Position overview:

This position performs custodial duties to maintain cleanliness in offices, shops, and other occupied areas in accordance with contract requirements and company policy.

Work Schedule:

40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 7:00 AM-4:00 PM.

Educational Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Experience Qualifications
  • At least six months of experience in a similar position (desired).
Other Qualifications
  • Authorized coverage under agency insurance with valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Pass a background check as required by the company.
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to communicate with tact and maintain confidentiality.
  • Effective verbal communication with adequate volume.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with management and peers.
  • Maintain appropriate security clearance for the assigned work area.
Job Responsibilities Summary

Cleans and keeps work sites, restrooms, and exterior areas of offices, shops, and other occupied areas in orderly condition in accordance with contract requirements and company policy.

Essential Functions
  • Clean work sites, restrooms, and exterior areas in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Perform work using safe and up‑to‑date cleaning procedures and methods.
  • Comply with all safety requirements related to the job assignment.
  • Wear and use applicable personal protective equipment as required.
Specific Responsibilities May Include
  • Perform other duties as required to fulfill janitorial contract obligations or changes based on customer needs.
  • Complete all custodial tasks as listed in the Performance Work Statement (PWS).
  • Perform other duties as outlined in Phoenix Personnel Policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Additional Responsibilities for Child Development Center (if applicable)
  • Spot Clean (Doors, Mirrors, Walls, Windows, etc.)
  • High Dusting (Between 6.5’ and 10’)
  • Wash windows (exterior/interior)
  • Clean interior glass
  • Clean glass/mirrors to the standards as specified in paragraph 5.14.1.28
  • Spot Clean children’s furniture
  • Routine cleaning of children’s furniture
  • Collecting and disposing of all trash and debris
  • Clean dryer ducts
  • Clean washers/dryers
  • Clean playground equipment and surrounding areas
  • Working Conditions /

    Physical Requirements
    • Adequate ability for conversation, telephone use, and emergency information systems.
    • Independent mobility on all surfaces and situations.
    • Safe movement in the work area.
    • Retrieve items from high and low areas.
    • Perceive size, discrimination, temperature, shapes, and/or textures.
    • Physical stamina to work at least 8 hours per day.

    • Adapt routine positively.
    • Follow through on assignments independently.
    • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Maintain confidentiality.
    • Stable work behaviors daily.

    Rate of Pay

    $10.00 per hour during training. $17.84 per hour plus $5.09 Health & Welfare once security clearance is obtained.
