Security Specialist (Anti-Terrorism)
As a SECURITY SPECIALIST (ANTI-TERRORISM) at the GS-0080-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- The incumbent serves as the principal Security Specialist and Agency Antiterrorism Officer (ATO), exercising full lifecycle responsibility for planning, designing, integrating, and administering the Defense Threat Reduction Agency's (DTRA) comprehensive, agency-wide (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). The employee independently develops, maintains, and implements the agency's primary AT policy framework, which includes authoring the DTRA AT Directive, the DTRA AT Manual, the DTRA AT Plan, the DTRA Occupant Emergency Plan, and the agency-level Random Antiterrorism Measure (RAM) Policy and department RAM SOP.
- The specialist conducts highly complex, risk-based vulnerability, threat, and criticality assessments across diverse DTRA installations, particularly those characterized by intricate tenant relationships and competing security baselines. In doing so, the incumbent negotiates shared defensive responsibilities across organizational boundaries, analyzes the secondary cascading effects of potential incidents on DTRA's unique scientific facilities, and inspects, analyzes, and evaluates physical security systems.
- To resolve critical operational conflicts, the specialist designs and drafts comprehensive, heavily researched exceptions to policy and risk-acceptance packages for the Agency Director when standard DoD AT mandates clash with DTRA's scientific or operational research mission, calculating precise risk indices and detailing robust compensatory measures.
- The incumbent serves as the senior technical advisor to ensure the integration of mandatory AT requirements into the agency's procurement and contracting processes, advising contracting officers and program managers on necessary defensive clauses for specific service and support contracts.
- Additionally, the employee plans, develops, and delivers mandatory, agency-wide Antiterrorism Awareness training, coordinates Random Antiterrorism Measures across the directorates, and conducts executive-level security briefings for DTRA senior leaders and external law enforcement partners to ensure maximum defensive readiness.
