Data Engineer Senior Principal; Hybrid

Job Title

Senior Principal Data Engineer – Data Engineering, Data Science

Fort Bragg, North Carolina (Hybrid: 50% remote, 50% onsite; 2-3 days onsite, 2-3 days remote)

Salary range: $144,500 - $195,500 (annually)

• Design and deliver advanced data solutions to enhance warfighter readiness and decision‐making.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a growing engineering team.
• Collaborate with the government Project Manager to ensure mission‑focused outcomes.
• Leverage cloud‑based data architectures to support mission‑critical operations.
• Recommend tools and capabilities based on research of the current environment.
• Work with the client’s migration teams to implement strategy and architecture design.
• Serve as team lead for a small group developing technical deliverables using live data to create dynamic visual dashboards.
• Maintain sprint cadence and update status dashboards.
• Quarterly travel as required.

• 10+ years of related experience.
• U.S. citizen with a current Secret clearance (or ability to obtain).
• SQL database experience.
• Experience with S3/block storage integration.
• Python scripting expertise.
• 3-5 years of experience with non‑proprietary big data technologies (Presto, Hive, Spark, Flink, etc.) – Presto/Trino preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience with data lake/warehouse technical architecture, infrastructure components, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• 3-5 years of experience with workflow management engines (Airflow, AWS Step Functions, Prefect).
• Software development, infrastructure, or cloud operations experience.
• Experience with operating systems:
  Linux, Unix, Windows.
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
• Experience deploying containerized microservices on Kubernetes infrastructure.

• Experience with DoD security technical implementation guides (STIGs) and automation.
• Experience in defense or intelligence community cloud environments.
• Power BI ecosystem experience (Data Flows).
• Ability to optimize cloud environments, right‑size servers, and track cost efficiencies.
• Experience configuring and aggregating logs for data analysis using Splunk or ELK solutions.
• Experience managing data pipelines between networks and TAK infrastructure.
