Personnel Assistant II

This position performs a variety of general personnel clerical tasks in such areas as employee records, benefits, education, training, employment/staffing, compensation, employee labor relations, and equal employment opportunity/affirmative action. The Person nel Assistant may conduct surveys and update manual and automated personnel records.

This position serves as a clerical expert in independently processing the most complicated types of personnel actions, e.g., temporary employment, rehires, and dismissals. In this position, one may perform tasks beyond routine clerical such as: pre-employment drug screening and new hire orientation, responding to routine questions on policy and procedures, and/or provide reports on employee turnover or time and attendance. This assistant may be asked to evaluate and consolidate information from various sources under short deadlines, such as internal or external survey information, reporting on company employment statistics (retention, equal opportunity reporting, etc).

The Person nel Assistant II may provide guidance to lower level Personnel Assistants. This level requires extensive knowledge of various office software packages. Guidance is provided as needed. Completed written work receives close technical review from higher-level personnel office employees. Work may be checked occasionally.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities listed in a satisfactory manner:

  • Distribute work instructions to all HR sections, as needed.
  • Prepare packets for early release from active duty
  • Facilitate the request of medical evaluation orders publication after medical provider recommendation
  • Conduct in/out processing for mob and demobing units and individual Soldiers
  • Prepare and process administrative chapters
  • Request for temporary change of station orders
  • Process leaves and passes for mob/demobing Soldiers
  • Conduct daily mailroom operations, pick up mail from installation post office
  • Prepare routine correspondence for MD (GSO) Mob Chief signature
  • Update information in eMILPO, MARRS-N, iPERMS, and DAMPS
  • Maintain constant knowledge and competency of all changes, additions or deletions as they pertain to your job. Keep an updated Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for your area of work. In the event of your absence, your SOP will be utilized to ensure the mission does not falter

The requirements identified below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to satisfactorily meet the expectations of this job:

  • Must be able to operate a Personal Computer (PC) with a functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (primarily Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Windows graphical user interface) and Data/web based systems required for task area performing work.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Army rank structure and military unit relationships (e.g., Company, Battalion, Brigade, Division, etc).
  • Must be able to work under stressful conditions and be physically able to demonstrate the training/support tasks to standard.
  • Must have a working knowledge of mobilization/demobilization operations IAW FORSCOM Regulation 500-3-1 thru 500-3-5.
  • Must have the appropriate qualifications, certification, and/or license under the requirements for the task area being performed under this contract prior to commencement of work.
  • Must able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
  • Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
