Systems Engineer – The Opportunity
Are you looking for an opportunity to combine your technical skills with big picture thinking to make an impact in simulation training environments for the United States military? You understand your customer’s environment and how to develop the right systems for their mission. As a Systems Engineer on our team, you’ll use your experience in network design and architecture, information assurance, group policy and account management, virtualization, installation and configuration of applications, system administration and updates, and automation to lead a team of engineers focusing on network modernization on an inherited, legacy infrastructure.
Your customer will trust you to not only design and develop these systems but also evolve them with advanced technology solutions. You’ll troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues on a training environment and analyze current working infrastructures to understand how to make improvements and increase security, reliability and availability for mission‑critical network systems. Using your technical curiosity and knowledge of industry standards, you’ll have a direct impact on national security missions.
Qualifications- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering
- Experience managing complex projects from initiation to completion, while coordinating with cross‑functional teams
- Experience mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior and mid‑level engineers
- Experience with Windows Server or Linux operating systems
- Ability to lead the design, architecture, and implementation of critical enterprise IT infrastructure, including server, storage, virtualization, and cloud environments
- Ability to develop and maintain strategic roadmaps for systems technology evolution
- Ability to establish and enforce system configuration, change management, and security policies across the server landscape
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
- Bachelor's degree
- Top Secret clearance
- Experience working in the special operations community
- Experience architecting and implementing high‑availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions
- Experience driving automation initiatives across system deployment, monitoring, and maintenance using scripting languages such as Power Shell and Python
- Experience performing capacity planning and performance monitoring to proactively address potential bottlenecks
- Experience conducting root cause analysis (RCA) for major incidents and implementing corrective and preventive measures
- Experience with expert‑level administration and troubleshooting of virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper‑V
- Knowledge of enterprise storage and backup solutions such as SAN, NAS, object storage, Veeam, and Commvault
- Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity management systems
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Top Secret clearance is required.
CompensationSalary range: $86,800.00 to $ (annualized USD). Benefits include health, life, disability, financial and retirement benefits, paid leave, professional development, tuition assistance, work‑life programs and dependent care. Full‑time and part‑time employees working at least 20 hours a week are eligible for Booz Allen’s benefit programs.
