Assistant Deputy Chief Of Staff, G-6
The Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, G-6 exercises broad authority to act on all matters within the G-6 functional area of Command, Control, Communications and Computers for the Army's Theater for U.S. Northern Command and U.S. Southern Command. Provides continuity resulting from frequent changes in military Deputy Chief of Staff, G-6 Directors. Oversees the Signal and Information Technology training, readiness, and operational employment of all U.S. Army Western Hemisphere Command (USAWHC) forces.
Ensures USAWHC units are properly provided with technology, equipment, training, and logistics necessary to be prepared to support operational missions across the entire Western Hemisphere. Provides leadership and mentorship to USAWHC's Soldiers and civilians in information technology specialties. Independently anticipates and solves major challenges and addresses strategic policy matters associated with frequent new and rapid growth in information technology equipment and theory that impact USAWHC and USAWHC's subordinate units.
Autonomously explores and develops policies and procedures in information management / information technology that continually improve the command's mission-commanded procedures and business practices. Serves as the command's primary expert in information management and technology. Provides leadership for the command, control, communications, computers and information management components of USAWHC strategy and policy. Duties include planning, analyzing, developing, implementing, maintaining and enhancing the information technology infrastructure, knowledge management, automated systems, cybersecurity, architectures and policies within the command.
Responsible for a budget of approximately $26 million. Performance is reviewed in the broadest terms for technical perceptiveness, managerial competence, application of technology to solve command issues, and senior leadership contribution to achieve USAWHC missions. Serves as a deputy to USAWHC's Deputy Chief of Staff, G-6 (General Officer) and frequently serves as the acting G-6 in the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-6 absence.
Executes all assigned duties, responsibilities, and program authorities of the G-6. Directly oversees a workforce of 207 combined military, civilians and contractors; directly supervises personnel at the Colonel/GS-15 levels.
