Retail Associate/ Customer Service, Cashier
The Store Associate agrees to perform (but is not limited) to the following duties.
Section A:Thrift Store Operations
- Assist the Store Manager with all aspects of assigned duties, including responding to customer questions about item price or location, operating the electronic checkout system, recording unit price, total purchase, and giving change; handling, preparing, and maintaining stock levels of donated items throughout the store in a proficient and timely manner.
- Advocate the thrift store and its programs through appropriate means, such as posting flyers in the shop, emails, in‑person installation events and briefings, social media, and community activities.
Financial Duties
- When performing cashier duties, receive and verify the cash drawer funds from management prior to opening the store.
- Ensure all money collected for sales each day is properly recorded in the POS software and the correct amount is noted in the “Cashier Drawer Slip.”
- Execute all customer sales transactions, conduct daily cash drawer reconciliation, balance the daily credit card with the daily cash drawer, and transmit the batch deposit.
- Process all requests for merchandise held as “Sold & Awaiting Pickup”; ensure that any cash drawer correction, including voids, is immediately authorized by the Manager.
Processing Donations
- Assist with all aspects of donated items, including sorting newly arrived donated items, tagging merchandise, and placing or hanging items in designated areas.
Custodial Duties
- Perform basic custodial duties such as dusting display areas, cleaning workstations, sweeping floors, cleaning bathrooms, sinks, taking out trash, and sanitizing carts and shopping baskets.
Work Hours
- Store Associates have a flexible schedule to accommodate a work week; the typical work week will consist of up to 30 hours.
- Must be able to gain access to Fort Liberty.
- Subject to a probationary/trial period.
