Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Special Mission Communications Electronics Technician to support the testing, evaluation, repair, integration, and field employment of advanced communications and electronic systems supporting U.S. Army and Joint Special Operations Forces (SOF) missions.
This position is ideal for a highly skilled electronics technician who combines hands-on RF and communications expertise, advanced soldering and cable fabrication skills, equipment troubleshooting, and operational experience in demanding military environments. The successful candidate will work independently to develop, modify, test, and integrate specialized equipment and innovative technical solutions in support of mission requirements.
The technician will work with military units, government organizations, vendors, contractors, and other technical stakeholders to solve complex communications and electronics problems and deliver reliable, mission-ready capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Test, troubleshoot, evaluate, repair, and maintain radios, communications equipment, and associated ancillary equipment through depot-level maintenance.
• Fabricate, repair, and modify RF, power, data, and communications cables, including advanced soldering and connectorization.
• Install, integrate, troubleshoot, and repair communications, command-and-control, and electronic equipment on military vehicles, aircraft, and other operational platforms.
• Modify existing equipment and ancillary systems to meet unique mission and operational requirements.
• Design, develop, prototype, and integrate specialized and mission-specific electronic solutions.
• Collaborate with equipment manufacturers, vendors, contractors, government agencies, military units, and technical personnel to develop or modify equipment for specialized applications.
• Operate and maintain standard and non-standard test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment used to evaluate electronic and RF systems.
• Troubleshoot communications networks and electronic systems and develop practical solutions to complex technical and operational problems.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot wide-area communications networks and related infrastructure as required.
• Research emerging commercial and military technologies and evaluate commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and state-of-the-art equipment for potential operational applications.
• Conduct equipment testing, technical evaluations, integration activities, and site surveys to determine the suitability of emerging technologies.
• Develop and recommend improved equipment, methods, procedures, and technical processes that enhance mission capabilities.
• Participate in technical working groups, planning meetings, conferences, trade shows, and equipment demonstrations as required.
• Coordinate technical support and resources with military and government organizations and provide recommendations to leadership regarding technical issues, equipment requirements, and mission risks.
• Identify equipment, personnel, and resource requirements and develop associated cost and funding estimates.
• Prepare After Action Reviews (AARs), work orders, technical documentation, inventory records, trip reports, and monthly status reports.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with government and organizational requirements.
• Conduct detailed planning and coordination to ensure technical objectives are accomplished safely, efficiently, and within mission timelines.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while seeking guidance when necessary and maintaining close coordination with government leadership.
• Travel to operational locations, training events, technical conferences, and other sites as required.
Operational Environment
