Overview

Military Education Coordinator – Office of Stateside Military Operations (Exempt, Contingent II, Full Time, Pay Grade 1.2).

Location:

Fort Carson and Schriever, CO. This position is 100% on‑site with required travel to other military installations. Regular hours are Monday–Friday with occasional evenings and weekend work as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Serve students via face‑to‑face and virtual advising, recruitment/retention outreach, and test proctoring services at military installations and surrounding areas.
  • Promote and support UMGC services, including hybrid classes, testing services, and graduation ceremonies at military and civilian sites.
  • Perform operational and administrative duties to ensure offices and test centers meet the standards set by military education center officers.
  • Maintain proficiency with UMGC systems (Salesforce, People Soft, DMS) and customer relationship management databases.
  • Coordinate outreach projects and services, providing consistent communication with military and civilian installations.
  • Assist at local events such as Military Open Houses, College/Academic Fairs, and other specialized events.
  • Manage office resources, coordinate IT assets and office supplies, and ensure marketing materials are current and compliant with military requirements.
  • Collaborate with Education Services Officer, Test Control Officer, and military partner counselors; provide briefings to military representatives on UMGC programs.
  • Respond to student inquiries—walk‑in, phone, virtual or email—regarding admissions, registration, financial aid, student accounts, testing and base access requests.
  • Track and analyze statistical data on testing and class enrollments to inform scheduling for hybrid classes and proctoring.
  • Ensure testing centers and hybrid classes have adequate space, technology, and support for instructors.
  • Facilitate professors’ base access, briefing on UMGC base requirements, and coordinate security compliance.
  • Provide first and last class assistance for hybrid sessions, including key distribution and student guidance.
  • Attend local and national events, education fairs, conferences, and the annual commencement ceremony as applicable.
  • Maintain prompt communication of staffing and test administration issues to management.
  • Facilitate the registration process for exams at National Test Centers (CLEP, DSST, Pearson VUE, Accuplacer) and other required exams.
  • Enforce testing rules and regulations according to the policies of testing services, DANTES, and UMGC.
  • Maintain current Test Administrator certifications for all testing companies and update testing software, troubleshoot technical issues collaboratively with UMGC IT as needed.
  • Provide in‑person coverage at additional locations for testing services and academic advising.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • One (1) year of customer service experience, preferably in higher education.
  • Excellent customer service skills for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Office Product line.
  • Ability to use multiple interfaces quickly and proficiently (Microsoft Office, People Soft, Salesforce, Microsoft
    365).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for outreach to prospective and current students and stakeholders.
  • All submissions must include a cover letter and resume.
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • One (1) year experience in a higher education environment with non‑traditional students.
  • Knowledge of UMGC practices and procedures.
  • Experience working with military or military students in higher education.
  • Experience using People Soft, Salesforce, and Microsoft
    365.
