About the RoleThe Safety Inspector is responsible to review and analyze, develop, implement, train and maintain company environmental/safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations; monitor environmental and industrial training compliance. They must enthusiastically interact with employees; review safety programs and procedures; proactively recommend continuous improvement and corrective actions where needed; manage data collection activities and analysis to support problem solving and organizational requirements.
Whatyou'll be doing
- Provide overall quality inspection to the safety procedures and training to help propel the direction of the company's safety program.
- Develop, implement and monitor company safety training programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety.
- Help develop and implement a culture that requires every person to fully embrace, apply and implement all safety and regulatory requirements as part of their daily work.
- Evaluate effectiveness of initiatives through safety training assessments and compile and interpret data to identify gaps.
- Help to develop and implement action plans as directed.
- Help to drive the operational implementation of strategies and initiatives through training in a way that builds a company-wide safety and compliance culture.
- Analyze, evaluate, identify and recommend new strategic, creative approaches to improve safety.
- Inspect for compliance with all OSHA, federal, state and local laws, ordinances, and regulations.
- Review internal health and safety programs, procedures, and policies to ensure they are being trained to the workforce and appropriately documented.
- Develop and implement audits of training operations to ensure company and regulatory requirements are being met and report findings to safety management and business leaders.
- Conduct training classes for employees.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in safety, including understanding JSA’s/JHA’s, filling out inspection forms, understanding Confined Space requirements, operational requirements for Aerial Lifts, use of ladders, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Ability to comprehend Safety Policy and Procedures and relay information to employees, Supervisors and Managers.
- EHS degree or equivalent experience – preferable construction related.
- Working understanding of OSHA Standards in General Industry and Construction; as well as Environmental requirements such as EPA, etc.
- Knowledge of Operations, Maintenance, Construction, and Repair methodology, materials, systems, and equipment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve problems and think in terms of abstract ideas.
- Dependable and trustworthy.
- Ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Demonstrate conduct conforming to a set of values and accepted standards.
- Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier
1) background check. - Must maintain ability to access government worksite.
- Must work alternate and extended shift schedules, including weekends and holidays, when necessary to meet the customer's mission requirements.
- Must perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
- Work both indoors and outdoors, frequently exposed to low to loud noise levels, weather conditions and external environment.
- Tasks may require working in tightly enclosed spaces, ladders, crawl spaces, attics or rooftops, exposure to dust, particulates, hazardous substances and high voltage.
