Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all prescribed internal control standards.
- Provide authoritative professional opinions based on precedent actions.
- Apply mechanical engineering knowledge focused on facilities and building design and construction proficiencies, skills, and abilities.
- Review work products to ensure satisfactory accomplishment in conformance with established practices and procedures.
- Review data for technical and functional adequacy.
- Prepare and present progress reports and documents to update organizational leaders and end users on a routine basis.
- Provide technical engineering guidance in accordance with the Army installation facilities standards.
- Interpret applicable policy and regulatory directives.
- Keep abreast of developments and trends in engineering sciences, techniques, and standards.
- Perform design reviews of all plans, engineering calculations, specifications, estimates, and technical documents.
- Propose and manage feasibility of modifications to plans and designs.
- Create designs, plans, and project specifications.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one‑year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine suitability for Federal employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- Financial Disclosure Statement OGE Form 450 – This position requires pre‑employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500‑7‑R.
One year of specialized experience which includes:
- Planning, designing, developing specifications, and managing multiple projects.
- Reviewing all plans, engineering calculations, specifications, estimates, and technical documents to ensure constructability and adherence to regulations.
- Discussing, clarifying, and coordinating project designs and construction with end users, stakeholders, technical experts, and other agencies.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS‑11).
EducationSome federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone – no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Additional Information- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
