Position: Research Scientist (Clinical Research, Traumatic Brain Injury)

GDIT’s Military Health Team is hiring a Research Scientist to support the development of clinical investigations for the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) located at Fort Carson, Colorado. As the TBI Pathway of Care manager within the MHS, the TBICoE promotes state‑of‑the‑science care from point‑of‑injury to reintegration for service members, veterans, and their families to prevent and mitigate consequences of mild to severe TBI.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop experimental hypotheses and study protocols for Department of War/TBICoE gap‑driven clinical research.
  • Lead or assist in the design, execution, and analysis of clinical investigations and studies projects.
  • Serve as Principal or Associate Investigator on TBICoE clinical research studies.
  • Assist in developing a virtual‑reality‑based cognitive training program to enhance combat operational performance and rehabilitation after TBI.
  • Post‑process and analyze data from cognitive pupillometry and/or eye‑tracking measures using Python or similar tools.
  • Evaluate scientific methodologies for potential TBI product and technology applications.
  • Coordinate with technical, professional, and operational staff; prepare documents, written reports, manuscripts for submission to scientific journals, and other related projects.
  • Support grant proposal development, including preparing requests for actions/proposals and associated documentation.
  • Facilitate database coding, SPSS syntax writing, statistical analyses, manuscript preparation, and conference presentations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams and provide mentorship to junior staff as needed.
  • Represent the TBI research expertise to HQ and the TBICoE network; respond to taskers, draft executive summaries, and participate in network calls.
  • Disseminate research findings to relevant clinical and operational communities locally and across the DHA.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s level degree with 10+ years of clinical TBI research experience, or Ph.D./MD/MD‑Ph.D. (preferred) and 2+ years of TBI research experience.
  • Experience producing data, manuscripts, and presentations for peer‑review journals and professional meetings.
  • Track record of successful grant proposals and grant writing experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Completion of CITI/HIPAA training.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred (What Would Be Even Better)
  • Experience with in DoW/VA systems of care with neurological disorders and TBI clinical research.
  • Experience with cognitive pupillometry and/or eye‑tracking data analysis (Python or other relevant software).
  • Experience with virtual‑reality technology.

Compensation & Work Details
  • Salary Range: $112,840–$131,100 (based on experience, location, and contractual requirements).

    Onsite work required (USA–CO Fort Carson). Additional locations may be considered.
