About the RoleThe Heavy Equipment Supervisor supervises heavy equipment operator personnel performing equipment operations, and road maintenance and support at Fort Carson.
Responsibilities- Supervise the operations of heavy equipment or specialized function; plan, lay out, assign, and supervise the work of operators, truck drivers, general maintenance workers, and laborers.
- Plan and schedule all shop maintenance requests.
- Determine priorities, personnel, equipment, materials, supplies, and ensure compliance with safety program.
- Assist and train less experienced operators and maintain performance and operation records.
- Ensure all applicable Environmental Protection Agency guidelines are met.
- Inspect work performed by equipment operations workers to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Check daily timesheets and cost accounting data.
- Maintain accurate work records and related documents.
- Write accurate and complete work reports for management use.
- Resolve operational problems.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school education or equivalent; trade school completion may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis for experience.
- Five years of skilled experience in heavy equipment operations, including five years of supervisory experience. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- CDL Class A required.
- Must successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required.
- Must perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.), including outdoor work in winter, summer, rain, sleet, and snow on uneven terrain, hills, and slopes.
- Duties require frequent periods of sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, crouching, bending, crawling, reaching, and balancing. Must be physically fit to frequently bend, stoop, and lift in awkward positions and able to lift and carry up to 60 lb.
- Must work 12‑hour shifts during weather events to meet the customer’s mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
- Must work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary, including weekends and holidays.
- Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE.
