We are seeking a leader and team player to join a growing, privately owned company in Fort Collins!
The Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller will be responsible for overseeing the organization's day-to-day accounting operations. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, maintains compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, and provides financial support to leadership and operational teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER / ASSISTANT CONTROLLERAccounting Operations
- Manage daily accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Review and approve financial transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Prepare account reconciliations and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and proper account classification.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and documented procedures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Provide financial analysis and support to management to assist with business decision-making.
- Oversee payroll processing, including review of payroll registers, PTO balances, funding requirements, and related journal entries.
- Ensure payroll transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
- Oversee invoice processing, payment approvals, electronic payments, and contractor compensation.
- Review payables, contractor hours, and payment reports for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Perform reconciliations and resolve discrepancies related to vendor and contractor payments.
- Manage customer billing processes and ensure timely, accurate invoices and cash application.
- Review billing data, customer invoices, and supporting documentation.
- Monitor receivables and assist with collections and account reconciliations.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Some public accounting experience a plus.
- CPA preferred.
Strong understanding of job costing and construction accounting best practices. - Excellent Excel and Accounting Software skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priori
- Team player with excellent communication and leadership skills.
Target salary range: $110,000 - $145,000 DOE. Benefits include PTO, 401K, insurance and much more!
