Senior Accounting & Finance Advisory Consultant (Project‑Based – Remote) Pay Range: $80–$110/hour, depending on background
We are seeking an experiencedconsultantto support client engagements working with state, county, local city, or school district entities.
This opportunity is ideal for a professional who has previously worked in a public entity, likely in a Controller or Accounting Manager role, and who enjoys hands‑on, high‑impact project work. These assignments will likely last 2-3 months.
Engagement Includes- Working with state, county, local city, or school district entities
- Accounting cleanup efforts
- Month‑end / quarter‑end close stabilization
- Audit readiness and external auditor support
- Assist with audit readiness for state, county, local city, or school district entities
- Assist with clean‑up of balance sheet accounts, historical reconciliations, and accounting backlogs
- Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and advisors
- GASB compliance
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience
- Experience working with state, county, local city, or school district entities
- Previous experience as an Accounting Manager or Controller in the target public entities
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GASB standards, and core accounting principles
- Experience supporting month‑end close, financial reporting, and audits
- Ability to operate independently in ambiguous or evolving environments
- Advanced Excel skills
Preferred
- Experience in project‑based, interim, or advisory consulting roles
