Workers Compensation Technician

Join our Risk Management team and play an important role in supporting our self-insured Workers' Compensation Program. In this position, you'll provide administrative and para-professional support while managing medical-only claims, coordinating return-to-work efforts, assisting with safety initiatives, and contributing to special projects. Your work will help employees navigate workplace injuries and support a safe, healthy work environment across the County.

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Enjoy a hybrid schedule with three days in the office and two days working remotely after onboarding and training.

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing:

  • Assisting with the administration of the County's self-insured Workers' Compensation Program, including supporting complex claims management.
  • Managing medical-only workers' compensation claims from intake through resolution.
  • Supporting the County's Return-to-Work (RTW) program by coordinating employee return-to-work efforts.
  • Coordinating schedules with departments and subject matter experts for workplace safety training programs.
  • Entering new workers' compensation claims into the Risk Management Information System (RMIS).
  • Maintaining claim files, documentation, and confidential employee records with accuracy and discretion.
  • Assisting with the County's Automated External Defibrillator (AED) program, including conducting weekly equipment inspections and replacing batteries and electrode pads as needed.
  • Supporting the County's DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program by coordinating administrative processes.
  • Preparing workers' compensation reports, correspondence, and related documentation.
Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Two years (2) of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
  • Possess reliable transportation to be able to work in any County facility as needed and required.
