Job Title: Field Safety Specialist
Reports To: Safety Director
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications- Background check and drug screening required
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Experience in utility construction (Transmission, Distribution, or Substation)
- Strong understanding of field operations and jobsite hazards
- Valid driver's license, clean MVR, and ability to travel frequently
- Proficient with everyday computer tasks, including Email communication, Teams meetings, creating reports, and completing project documentation
- Experience with Procore is a plus
Altitude Energy is seeking a Field Safety Specialist to support and strengthen safety performance across all operations. This position is a boots-on-the-ground role focused on jobsite visits, coaching crews, and driving accountability in the field.
The Field Safety Specialist will work directly with Transmission, Distribution, and Substation crews to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company expectations and regulatory requirements. The role requires a strong field presence, leadership mindset, and the ability to influence crews through trust and respect—not enforcement alone.
This position also plays a key role in apprentice development and must actively participate in apprenticeship training and calls.
Preferred Qualifications- Journeyman Lineman background (strongly preferred)
- Working knowledge of:
- OSHA regulations
- DOT regulations
- NESC standards
- Previous safety or supervisory experience
- Experience supporting or working within an apprenticeship program
Field Safety Leadership
- Conduct regular jobsite visits across Distribution, Substation, and Transmission projects
- Observe work practices and identify hazards before incidents occur
- Provide real-time coaching and corrective direction to crews
- Support and reinforce Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) quality and execution
- Ensure crews are following safe work practices and company procedures
- Maintain a strong visible presence in the field
- Attend all apprenticeship meetings and required training sessions
- Participate in in-person apprentice training events
- Mentor and coach apprentices in safe work practices and hazard recognition
- Support development of future linemen through hands-on field guidance
- Conduct field audits and safety evaluations across all job types
- Identify gaps and ensure corrective actions are completed
- Assist in maintaining compliance with company safety programs
- Support incident prevention by identifying trends and risks
- Assist with incident investigations and documentation
- Provide input on root cause and corrective actions
- Ensure proper reporting and communication following incidents
- Maintaining timely, accurate, and reliable reporting is an essential responsibility of this role
- Be available for storm restoration work as needed
- Support crews working extended hours in high-pressure environments
- Ensure safety expectations are maintained during storm operations
