Position Summary

The Traveling Construction Superintendent provides overall field leadership for commercial construction projects throughout the Western United States. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with Neenan's quality standards.

The Superintendent serves as the primary field representative and is responsible for fostering strong relationships with subcontractors, trade partners, owners, consultants, and project team members while maintaining a safe, productive, and professional jobsite.

This position requires extended travel and temporary relocation to project sites for assignments typically ranging from 12 to 18 months.

Essential Responsibilities Project Leadership & Execution
  • Lead all field operations from project startup through final completion and owner turnover.
  • Develop and maintain short-term and long-term construction schedules to support project milestones.
  • Coordinate daily activities of subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners to ensure efficient workflow and project progress.
  • Direct and manage field personnel while fostering accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Participate in preconstruction planning activities with the General Superintendent, Project Manager, and project team.
Safety Management
  • Champion a culture of safety and ensure strict compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific safety plans.
  • Partner with the Safety Director to proactively identify, mitigate, and resolve jobsite hazards.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, site inspections, and corrective action reviews.
Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all work is executed in accordance with contract documents, specifications, building codes, and Neenan quality standards.
  • Conduct quality control inspections and collaborate with the Quality Manager to identify and resolve deficiencies.
  • Verify layout accuracy, dimensional control, and installation quality throughout construction.
Schedule & Resource Management
  • Monitor project progress and productivity to maintain schedule commitments.
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, and material resources to optimize project performance.
  • Identify potential delays and implement corrective actions to minimize schedule impacts.
  • Support project budget objectives through efficient field operations and resource utilization.
Communication & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate and timely project documentation, including daily reports, inspections, schedules, safety records, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with Project Managers, architects, engineers, owners, consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders in a professional and proactive manner.
  • Utilize construction management software, mobile applications, and project technology platforms to support project delivery.
Problem Solving & Client Service
  • Anticipate and resolve field conflicts, design challenges, and construction issues.
