About The Company

Compost Queen PBC is a family-owned and operated compost hauling and processing business based in Fort Collins, CO. We market our compost service as well as run a drop off location for community food scraps at local farmers markets. We have a passion for waste diversion, composting, and contributing to a greener and healthier community throughout Northern Colorado. This position is great for anyone wanting to earn some extra cash this summer while becoming part of our incredible Compost Queen team. The markets are extremely fun and you will meet lots of great people each day while enjoying the Colorado sunshine. We hire multiple team members for this position so you don't commit EVERY weekend to the Queen.

The Role
  • Title:

    Compost Queen Farmers Market Representative
  • This a part-time, seasonal employee position
  • You will be responsible for Farmers Markets primarily on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • You must have availability on most Saturdays or Sundays from 7:30am -- 3:30pm, May through October.
  • This is a great opportunity to connect with the local Fort Collins community and contribute to a greener community.
  • This is a seasonal position, starting in May and going through October.
  • You may be the primary representative at the booth, working independently. Busy markets have two team members and occasionally a third.
  • Compensation: $16-18 per hour depending on experience.
Qualifications
  • Applicants must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must have the capacity to transport market set-up equipment including a 10' by 10' collapsible standup tent, 65 gallon rolling bins, folding tables, weights for tent, and other market materials.
  • Able to guide customers through our website and digital transactions.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and able to stand at the booth for 6+ hour long shifts.
  • Able to set up and break down the market booth before and after the market and during rainy, windy, and other inclement weather conditions.
  • Must have a friendly personality and the ability to maintain a positive attitude for a 6+ hour market shift.
  • Must be able to make sales of compost services and products to the public efficiently and effectively in a friendly and kind manner.
  • Must have a well-groomed and neat appearance.
Responsibilities
  • Setting up, operating, and breaking down the Compost Queen booth at farmer's markets.
  • Setting up and managing food waste collection.
  • Transporting product, rolling carts, and market materials to and from the headquarters in North Fort Collins and to/from the applicable market.
  • Responsible for all products, marketing materials, and drop-off materials.
  • Educating customers about Compost Queen and our services.
  • Supporting any other sales associates during their market shift.
  • Being courteous, friendly, and kind with all customers, team members, other vendors, and market coordinators and staff.
  • Completing the inventory and sales summary sheet before the completion of market shift.
  • Communicating by slack, text or call with the business owner about any market needs including market equipment, product needs, staffing needs, and any other support.
Expectations
  • Arrive to markets with a clean and professional appearance adhering to the dress code standard.
  • Arrive on time -- picking up supplies and products from headquarters ahead of markets and arriving at markets at least one hour prior to start time.
  • Follow operational procedures as documented in operations manual.
  • Have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and to work hard.
  • Manage your own breaks and booth coverage during markets.
