Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

With 2.5 full-time faculty, a full-time Director, and 23 cross-appointed faculty, UNCG's Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) Program supports innovative teaching, research, and creative practice. We offer an undergraduate major, an undergraduate minor, a master's degree program, and a Post-Baccalaureate graduate certificate.

Position Summary

The Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at UNC Greensboro is seeking candidates for a professional-track Lecturer position in Gender and Health starting in August 2026.

The successful candidate will have teaching experience and bring a creative approach to in-person and online pedagogy. They will be prepared to teach introductory and advanced undergraduate courses in gendered bodies and health, which serve both the WGSS Program and a newly developed interdisciplinary BA in Health, Medicine, and Society. They should also be prepared to teach Introduction to WGSS and/or Introduction to LGBTQI Studies.

Minimum qualification is an MA in WGSS or a related field. Candidates who hold a PhD will have an opportunity to teach at the graduate level.

As an interdisciplinary program, WGSS invites applicants who work in critical health studies broadly construed. Areas of focus might include (but are not limited to) disability studies, health access and equity, social medicine, trans health studies, health sovereignty, decolonial approaches to medicine, and the environment and health. The position is for one academic year with the possibility of renewal.
