2025-26 Teacher Secondary Long Term Substitute – Discovery – Centennial High School, Poudre School District – Fort Collins, Colorado

Position Summary

Long‑term substitute will co‑teach the foundational Discovery class and, thereafter, act as the primary teacher for Art and Physical Education.

Schedule
  • Regular

    Hours:

    Tuesday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:20 PM
  • Additional Monday workday:
    Every sixth Monday, 7:30 AM–4:20 PM
  • Total work calendar days: 188
  • Duration: 4/30/2026 through the remainder of the school year or end date of employee's leave of absence (TBD)
Compensation & Benefits
  • Daily rate: $185.00/day for 15 days or more; for under 15 days, paid at the regular substitute rate.
  • Benefits: PERA retirement
Responsibilities
  • Develop, plan, prepare, and implement course content, format, structure, and schedule.
  • Create individualized programs of instruction for students.
  • Provide classroom materials and curriculum.
  • Prepare lesson plans and learning activities.
  • Instruct students in large, small, and one‑on‑one situations.
  • Administer, edit, proofread, and grade assignments and assessments.
  • Create a classroom environment that maximizes instructional opportunity, supervise behavior and well‑being of students, and administer discipline when appropriate.
  • Design assessment tasks that allow students to demonstrate understanding in a variety of ways and use data to give meaningful feedback and modify instruction.
  • Monitor student growth and progress, adapt support as needed, and maintain documentation of academic, social, and emotional progress and needs.
  • Communicate student progress, needs, and eligibility with parents/guardians and other staff.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, administrators, and colleagues to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes.
  • Participate in department, team, building, and district meetings; student and/or family conferences; social, cultural, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities; professional growth opportunities.
  • Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree with proper teaching licensure program required.
    • Experience instructing students in a classroom setting preferred.
    Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
    • Criminal background check required for hire.
    • Valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsements required.
    • CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged.
