Pay Range:
- Paraprofessional I: $19.49–$21.83/hour
- Vocational Paraprofessional: $19.86–$22.24/hour

Paraprofessional Integrated Services ISUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the general classroom or special education teacher by providing instructional, physical, and behavioral support for students with mild to moderate disabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist teachers in delivering instruction, reteaching complex concepts, and reinforcing learning skills in individuals or small groups.
- Independently support students in general and special education settings by guiding classroom assignments, assessments, and larger academic projects.
- Proactively manage student behavior, including de‑escalation techniques for aggression and self‑regulation coaching.
- Collaborate with teachers, case workers, mental health professionals, and other staff to implement IEPs and behavioral strategies.
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, common areas and during transitions; enforce safety protocols and act as a second adult during high‑risk situations.
- Assist students with mobility, personal care, hygiene, and health‑related needs (restroom, feeding, positioning).
- Adjust instructional materials based on the student’s IEP, including assistive technology.
- Track and record student progress, behavior incidents, and intervention outcomes; assist with instructional planning, grading, and data collection.
- Attend training sessions and school‑wide initiatives to remain updated on strategies and legal requirements.
- Adapt quickly to changing student and classroom needs, fill in for absent staff, and manage multiple priorities.
- Support high‑stakes initiatives, special projects, and urgent school‑wide needs as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND RELATED
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of related experience.
- Experience working with special needs students preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) required within 3 months of hire.
- Special Education Paraprofessional Academy classes (5 in first 2 years of hire).
TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
- Oral and written communication skills.
- English language skills.
- Interpersonal relations skills.
- Mathematical skills (basic calculations and application of basic math concepts).
- Bilingual oral and written communication skills may be required or preferred.
- Ability to work with students with various mild to moderate physical and emotional disabilities.
- Ability to diffuse volatile student situations.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, follow instructions, and respond to management direction.
- Lift and transfer students, provide behavior supports including de‑escalation and physical assistance, following health care procedures.
- Work in a team environment.
- Maintain honesty and integrity.
- Adhere to attendance requirements.
- Promote and follow Board of Education, district, and administrative policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Recognize the importance of safety, follow safety rules, use safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions.
SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the Career & Technical Education (CTE) teacher to coordinate and implement the CTE program, including arranging job opportunities and coaching students.
