Information specific to this position:
This position is an 80% Physical Education/Outdoor Education teacher for K-12 at Polaris Expeditionary Learning School. This is a K-12 teaching position and includes outdoor and overnight expeditions. Polaris is a K-12 public school option within Poudre School District that serves 400+ students each year. The school was founded in 2007 using the Expeditionary Learning model and offers authentic learning experiences both on and off campus through investigations of compelling topics over an extended period.
This position is for the school year with a start date of August 10, 2026.
Percentage: 80%
Work calendar days: 188
Duration of position: Ongoing

Pay: Determined by the Licensed Educator Salary Schedule based on years of experience and education. Range for this position is $58,000 - $89,278 annually (based on a 100% assignment starting August 6, 2025).
SummaryResponsible for instructing secondary level students in appropriate subject area in coordination with current curriculum and within the framework of District and state content standards.
Responsibilities- Develop, plan, prepare, and implement: a. Course content, format, structure, and schedule. b. Individualized programs of instruction for students. c. Classroom materials and curriculum. d. Lesson plans and learning activities.
- Instruct students in large, small, and one-on-one settings.
- Administer, edit, proofread, and grade students' assignments and assessments.
- Create a classroom environment which maximizes instructional opportunity, supervise the behavior and wellbeing of students in the classroom and all educational settings, and administer discipline when appropriate.
- Design assessment tasks that allow students to demonstrate understanding in a variety of ways and use the data to give meaningful feedback and modify instruction.
- Monitor student growth and progress, adapt support as needed, and maintain documentation pertinent to academic, social, and emotional progress and needs of students.
- Communicate students' progress, needs, and eligibility with parents/guardians and other staff as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, administrators, and colleagues to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes; participate in team and building-based meetings and discussions.
- Demonstrate a commitment to understand, appreciate, and make accommodations for student diversity; include and engage families in the student s education; support all Poudre School District policies, procedures, and expectations; provide personal and professional excellence.
- Participate in department, team, building, and district meetings and discussions; student and/or family conferences and other meetings; social, cultural, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities; professional growth opportunities.
- Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree with proper teaching licensure program required.
- Experience instructing students in a classroom setting preferred.
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- Valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsements required.
- CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged.
