Job Overview

This position is part of the Multi‑Categorical program for the 2026‑27 school year. The teacher will instruct academic functional classes to students in Integrated Services/Special Education programs in coordination with current curriculum within the framework of district and state content standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop, plan, prepare, and implement:
    • Course content, format, structure, and schedule.
    • Classroom materials, activities, and lesson plans.
    • Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals, objectives, and transition plans.
    • Scheduling of staff and meetings in compliance with IEPs.
  • Instruct students in large, small, and one‑on‑one situations across the curriculum.
  • Organize and facilitate schedules of students and paraprofessionals and assist in developing the master schedule for the Integrated Services department.
  • Supervise and direct special education paraprofessionals.
  • Create a classroom environment that maximizes instructional opportunity and supervise the behavior and well‑being of students in all educational settings.
  • Monitor student learning and progress:
    • Evaluate the success of educational approaches, specialized instruction, supports, and services.
    • Adapt support as needed.
    • Maintain documentation of academic, social, and emotional progress.
  • Communicate students’ progress and needs with parents/guardians and other staff.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, administrators, and other special education providers to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes; with outside agencies to promote student success; and with colleagues in team and building‑based meetings and discussions.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to:
    • Understanding, appreciating, and making accommodations for student diversity.
    • Including and engaging families in the student’s education.
    • Supporting all district policies, procedures, and expectations.
    • Providing personal and professional excellence.
  • Participate in department, team, building, IEP/staffing, and district meetings and discussions; student and/or family conferences; social, cultural, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities; and professional growth opportunities.
  • Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree with proper teaching licensure program required.
  • Experience in an educational setting with students with special needs preferred.
Required Licenses & Certifications
  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsements required.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required within 3 months of hire.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged.

Materials & Equipment Knowledge
  • Operating knowledge of computers, peripherals, and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Outlook).
