This position is for an Elementary teacher for the 2026-27 school year at Polaris Expeditionary Learning School. It will teach 2nd and 3rd grade. Polaris is a K‑12 public school option within Poudre School District that serves 400+ students each year. The school was founded in 2007 using the Expeditionary Learning model and continues to offer authentic learning experiences, both on and off campus, through investigations of compelling topics over an extended period of time.

Percentage: 100%. Work calendar days: 188. Duration:
Ongoing.

Pay for this position is determined by the Licensed Educator Salary Schedule based on years of experience and education. Range for position is $58,000 – $89,278 annually (based on a 100% assignment starting August 6, 2025). These pay rates are based on the 2025-26 school year rates and will be updated during negotiations for the 2026-27 school year.

This is a probationary position. PSD employees currently under a licensed contract may apply and, if selected, retain contract status.

Must have a valid Colorado Educator’s License with appropriate endorsement.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, plan, prepare, and implement course content, format, structure, and schedule.
  • Develop individualized programs of instruction for students.
  • Develop classroom materials and curriculum.
  • Develop lesson plans and learning activities.
  • Instruct students in large, small, and one‑on‑one situations.
  • Administer, edit, proofread, and grade students’ assignments and assessments.
  • Create a classroom environment that maximizes instructional opportunity, supervise behavior and well‑being of students, and administer discipline when appropriate.
  • Design assessment tasks that allow students to demonstrate understanding in a variety of ways and use data to give meaningful feedback and modify instruction.
