The Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences seeks applicants for a 9‑month tenure track Assistant Professor position. The Assistant Professor is expected to develop an internationally recognized research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advise students, and provide service to the university and profession. This role will demonstrate a commitment to CSU’s mission through teaching, research, and/or service.

This position will contribute to teaching in the toxicology graduate program, including possible course development within the faculty member’s area of expertise, and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students in experiential learning opportunities.

This position will be expected to develop an independent and sustainable program of scholarly research related to the cellular and molecular mechanisms of toxic effects of pharmaceutical and/or environmental exposures. The research will complement the existing expertise in neurotoxicology, forensic and analytical toxicology, cellular and molecular toxicology, cancer biology, radiation biology, epidemiology and environmental health. Collaborations with investigators across the university will be encouraged.

This position will serve on departmental, college, and/or university committees; participate in professional organizations; and engage in outreach and advancement of toxicological sciences.

Job Duties
  • Teach and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including course and curriculum development. (40%)
  • Conduct and publish research, pursue external funding, and contribute to scholarly advancement in the field. (50%)
  • Provide service to the department, university, profession, and community in support of CSU’s mission. (10%)
  • Other related duties.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in the relevant discipline.
  • Evidence of research productivity or strong potential to establish a sustainable scholarly program (e.g., publications, presentations, grant activity).
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States by date of hire. Visa sponsorship may not be available.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background and knowledge adequate to teach more than one of the core courses in the graduate Toxicology curriculum (Fundamentals of Toxicology, Metabolism and Disposition of Toxic Agents, Toxicological Mechanisms, Toxicological Pathology).
  • Background and knowledge adequate to teach in elective toxicology courses (Risk Assessment, Environmental Toxicology, One Health Toxicology).
  • Clearly articulated plans for obtaining funding for toxicology research.
  • Publication record or other evidence of direct involvement in research related to toxicology.
