Job Description
The CSU College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) is housed in the Academic Advancement Center in the Division of Student Affairs. CAMP embraces a student‑centered philosophy of advocacy and validation for seasonal agricultural workers and migrant farmworking background students through programs, activities, and services. The Program Assistant reports directly to the CAMP Outreach and Enrollment Coordinator.
Position ExpectationsThe primary responsibility of the Program Assistant is to plan and facilitate administrative tasks in support of student‑centered programs and events to promote recruitment, retention, and student wellness in an in‑person services setting.
Fall and SpringJob Responsibilities
- Assist CAMP Coordinator with recruitment efforts including phone banking, tabling, and presenting.
- Work with CAMP Coordinator to develop workshops and assist with their execution.
- Communicate with AAC programs staff and collaborate on student‑centered events.
- Assist with academic‑year event planning and campus/community partner collaborations.
- Handle event promotion logistics, including flyer creation and advertising to CAMP scholars.
- Develop digital documents for assigned events and other responsibilities.
- Coordinate office social media outlets, including content creation and posting.
- Lead staff for CAMP Student selection and travel logistics to the Annual Leadership National HEP/CAMP conference.
- Assess and evaluate programs, reporting material data analysis of summary findings.
- Understand program eligibility and compliance requirements for recruitment.
- Collaborate with full‑time staff on office, department, and CAMP Scholar training and orientations.
- Serve on the planning committee for the Northern Colorado Migrant Youth Leadership Institute.
- Serve on the planning committee for the Academic Advancement Center End of Year Celebration.
- Attend lead staff meetings and assigned events.
- Track expenses to keep the program within the AY 26‑27 budget.
- Identify student areas of need with other CAMP staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on capacity and availability.
- Staff the office front desk.
- Assist with New Student Orientation workshop presentations and resource fair tableting.
- Assist with New Student Orientation Spanish sessions.
- Conduct special research projects on academic success and best practices.
- Assist with interview, selection, and onboarding procedures for undergraduate staff.
- Serve as CAMP representative committee member for the Annual C4E Welcome Back Event.
- One year of college experience from an accredited institution.
- Previous leadership or experience working with first‑generation and/or underrepresented students.
- High degree of organization, administrative, and communication skills as a team member.
- Ability to problem‑solve, think creatively, and maximize resources.
- Flexible in changing environments with strong self‑direction, initiative, and reliability.
- Availability 3 to 4 days a week.
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
- Bachelor's degree and enrollment in a graduate program at Colorado State University.
- Experience with grant‑funded programs and event planning.
- Experience with temporary agriculture and seasonal farm workers.
- Fluency in Spanish.
- Onboarding or ongoing training begins two weeks before the first day of each Fall and Spring semester.
This is a part‑time (20 hours a week) position, funded until June 30, 2023, with a possibility of renewal. The employment period spans one academic year (early August to mid‑May) and, when applicable, summer employment runs last week of May to last week of July. Starting rate $22 per hour.
