Position: Before and After School Leader - Canyon Creek Elementary School at Cherry Creek School District

JOB SUMMARY

Assist the program director in planning and implementing the child-care program, developing and promoting strong community relations, and supporting the preparation and execution of quality programming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow and enforce all Colorado Department of Early Childhood licensing requirements.

Work directly and actively supervise and engage with students while they are present in the program.

Communicate effectively with parents, students, school staff, district staff, and coworkers.

Maintain safe conditions for all students and staff.

Promote and market before-and-after-care and full-day programming.

Attend and participate in professional development trainings as required by licensing and district.

Assist in implementing quality lesson plans for each day the program is in operation; may help create lesson plans.

Assist with maintenance, proper storage, and repair of equipment and supplies.

Contribute ideas for enrichment activities, projects, and program quality.

Create and implement activities and field trips for full-day programming.

Attend monthly program staff meetings as required by the director.

Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Aged 18 or older.
At least three (3) months (455 hours) of verified experience caring for and supervising four (4) or more children under the age of four, who are not related to the individual.
Or a current early childhood professional credential level I (or higher) under the Department’s Early Childhood Professional Credential 3.0 Worksheet.
Complete at least 15 clock hours of training each year (June 1–May 31).
Knowledge of childcare best practices.
Ability to develop and use appropriate discipline procedures.
Some leadership and management skills.
Decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Current CPR/First Aid certification, or ability to obtain one within 30 days.
Successful criminal background check and fingerprinting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Light work strength: lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds.
Work both indoors and outdoors.
Typical loud noise level.
Occasional lifting, pulling, and/or pushing.
Frequent bending, reaching, climbing, squatting.
Visual concentration required.
Work with a team of others.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Formal education and professional work experience in the public sector.
Experience working directly with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Racially conscious and culturally competent, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
Paid licensed child-care program, teaching assistant, para-educator, or licensed teaching experience.
