JOB SUMMARYAssist the program director in planning and implementing the child-care program, developing and promoting strong community relations, and supporting the preparation and execution of quality programming.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Aged 18 or older.
- At least three (3) months (455 hours) of verified experience caring for and supervising four (4) or more children under the age of four, who are not related to the individual.
- Or a current early childhood professional credential level I (or higher) under the Department’s Early Childhood Professional Credential 3.0 Worksheet.
- Complete at least 15 clock hours of training each year (June 1–May 31).
- Knowledge of childcare best practices.
- Ability to develop and use appropriate discipline procedures.
- Some leadership and management skills.
- Decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification, or ability to obtain one within 30 days.
- Successful criminal background check and fingerprinting.
- Light work strength: lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds.
- Work both indoors and outdoors.
- Typical loud noise level.
- Occasional lifting, pulling, and/or pushing.
- Frequent bending, reaching, climbing, squatting.
- Visual concentration required.
- Work with a team of others.
- Formal education and professional work experience in the public sector.
- Experience working directly with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Racially conscious and culturally competent, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Paid licensed child-care program, teaching assistant, para-educator, or licensed teaching experience.
