Overview

This Social Emotional Learning Coach position is for the 2026-27 school year at Polaris Expeditionary Learning School supporting middle school grade level students. Polaris is a K-12 public school option within Poudre School District that serves 400 plus students each year. The school was founded in 2007 using the Expeditionary Learning model and continues to offer authentic learning experiences, both on and off campus, through investigations of compelling topics over an extended period of time.

Pay for this position is determined by the Licensed Educator Salary Schedule based on years of experience and education. Range for position is $58,000 - $89,278 annually (based on a 100% assignment starting August 6th, 2025).

* These pay rates are based on the 2025-26 school year rates and will be updated when approved during the negotiations process for the 2026-27 school year*

This is a probationary position. However, PSD employees currently under a licensed contract may apply for this position and if selected, will retain contract status.

Must have a valid Colorado Educator's License with appropriate endorsement.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction and services for students in large, small, and one‑on‑one situations for behavior support, including co‑teaching/co‑facilitating.
  • Develop, plan, prepare, and implement:
    • Data collection and progress monitoring for behavior intervention support.
    • Staff support and training for trauma informed behavior intervention strategies, practical functional based intervention support, and targeted behavior strategies.
  • Maintain and manage confidential documentation of student’s progress with targeted behavior interventions. Communicate behavioral interventional strategies, plans and progress to stakeholders.
  • Report suspected danger of health/safety of students and staff to administrators. Facilitate coordination of proper services for students with behavior issues.
  • Collaborate with teams to design assessment tasks that allow students to demonstrate understanding in a variety of ways and use the data to give meaningful feedback and modify instruction.
  • Monitor student growth and progress, adapt support as needed, and maintain documentation pertinent to academic, social, and emotional progress and needs of students.
  • Provide case management and referrals for community resources when applicable for student behavior support.
  • Collaborate:
    • With teachers, support personnel, administrators, and colleagues to support student behavioral challenges and improve student outcomes.
    • With colleagues in team and building‑based meetings and discussions.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to:
    • Understand, appreciate, and make accommodations for student diversity.
    • Include and engage families in the student’s education.
    • Support all Poudre School District policies, procedures, and expectations.
    • Provide personal and professional excellence.
  • Participate in:
    • Multi‑disciplinary meetings (department, team, building, and district).
    • Student and/or family conferences and other meetings.
    • Social, cultural, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities.

  • Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.

  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, School Counseling, or related field with licensure program required.
    • Master’s degree preferred.
    • Experience working with students who exhibit behavior challenges/at‑risk youth preferred.
    • Experience instructing students in a school‑based setting preferred.
    Licenses and Certifications
    • Criminal background check required for hire.
    • Valid Colorado Teaching license with appropriate endorsements required.
    • CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged.
