The Ameri Corps member will serve as part of the Education Department at the museum, working directly under the supervision of the Education Coordinator. The primary focus will be to support and deliver high-impact educational programming to K-12 students, with an emphasis on equitable access to culturally relevant history education. The member will play a key role in facilitating Hands‑on History programs, field trips, and other student‑focused educational experiences.
As capacity allows, the Ameri Corps member may also assist with community events, adult educational programming, and broader outreach initiatives.
- The member will serve at the El Pueblo History Museum
. - Average 20 hours per week, minimum 900 hours over the term.
- Flexible hours including occasional evenings and regular weekend hours.
- Supervised directly by the Education Coordinator with additional oversight by the Program Manager.
- Service term:
September 8, 2026 – August 20, 2027. - Mandatory orientation September 8–9, 2026 at the History Colorado Museum in Denver.
- Facilitate field trips, classroom visits, and other educational activities, tailoring content to be culturally relevant and aligned with academic standards.
- Create and teach lesson plans for Hands‑On History classes aligned with our pillars.
- Collaborate with museum staff and community partners to enhance program reach and impact.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement of educational programming.
- Support and facilitate other community engagement and story initiative projects as needed.
- Academic Year (Sept 2026 – May 2027): Facilitate weekly Hands‑On History Friday programs.
- Winter Break (Late Dec 2026): Support the Winter Break Camp.
- Spring Break (March 22–26, 2027): Assist with Spring Break Camp.
- Summer (Jun – Aug 2027): Support Summer Camp, managing facilitation and daily cleanup.
- Special Events: Día de los Muertos Celebration (Nov 1, 2026);
Holiday Cultural Festival (Dec 5, 2026).
- A living allowance up to $18,000 (pre‑tax), biweekly installments of $720 over the 50‑week term.
- Segal Education Award of $3,697.50 for qualifying members.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident.
- Ability to pass criminal history checks.
- Strong interest in history, education, or related field.
- At least 3 months of full‑time or equivalent part‑time experience working with school‑age children 5‑18 (455 hours).
