Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Special Education Teacher role based in Fort Collins, CO. The Special Education Teacher will design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs), provide direct instruction to students with diverse learning needs, and adapt curriculum and materials to support student access to grade-level content. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to monitor progress, adjust interventions, and ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are in place.

The teacher will collect and analyze student data, document progress toward IEP goals, and participate in IEP meetings and other required conferences. Additional duties include maintaining a structured, positive classroom environment, supporting social-emotional skill development, and complying with all school, district, and legal requirements related to special education.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting students with a range of disabilities, including adapting instruction and providing appropriate accommodations and modifications.
  • Teaching skills in planning, delivering, and assessing effective instruction, with the ability to differentiate for diverse learning needs.
  • Background or experience in middle school education, including familiarity with adolescent development and middle school curriculum.
  • Special Education expertise, including IEP development, progress monitoring, and knowledge of relevant laws and best practices.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with students, families, colleagues, and service providers in a professional, respectful manner.
  • Valid teaching license or eligibility for licensure in Special Education (state-specific certification for Colorado preferred).
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation, manage time effectively, and use technology for instruction and record-keeping.
  • Commitment to inclusive education, cultural responsiveness, and creating a safe, supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field required; advanced degree or specialized training in Special Education is an asset.
