OVERVIEWColorado State University is hiring a Temp Education Abroad Advisor within the Education Abroad unit in Fort Collins, Colorado. This role supports students throughout the international education process, including advising before departure, during programs abroad, and after students return. The position involves student advising, outreach, administrative support, and collaboration with the advising team to help connect students with education opportunities abroad.
The advisor serves as a primary point of contact for students through virtual and in-person advising, presentations, and communication across multiple channels. The role also includes participation in campus events, team projects, and support for education abroad operations at CSU.
- Provide individual and group advising for students participating in education abroad programs
- Serve as the Education Abroad advisor for open advising blocks and appointment advising sessions
- Support students through application, pre-departure, experience abroad, and return processes
- Provide administrative support for a regional portfolio and Education Abroad 101 advising
- Attend and participate in regular advising team meetings
- Lead classroom presentations, group presentations, tabling events, and education abroad fairs
- Co-coordinate regional information sessions and pre-departure orientation sessions
- Communicate with students abroad and assist returning students with questions related to program evaluation and credit transfer
- Communicate with students, staff, and parents in person, virtually, by email, and by phone regarding program placement, financial responsibilities, and CSU policies
- Manage applications using the Terra Dotta Application Management system
- Serve as alternate front desk coverage as needed
- Assist with additional projects and duties assigned by the office
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Demonstrated interest and engagement in international education
- Experience working in an office setting
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to interact with culturally diverse communities and people across all organizational levels
