Job Description & How to Apply Below

Alpha students complete all academic work in just two hours each day. This is not an exaggeration—it's the foundation of this position.

Academic instruction is delivered through adaptive software. What technology cannot provide is the ability to inspire a seven-year-old to believe she can accomplish more than she imagined—and that is precisely what this role requires. You will serve as a guide, dedicating your time to cultivating confidence, concentration, resilience, and the courage to tackle difficult challenges in young children who are still mastering basic tasks like tying their shoes.

You will be responsible for one K-3 cohort band: either Kindergarten-1st grade or 2nd-3rd. Your day will be divided between two primary activities. First, you'll facilitate dynamic, hour-long workshops focused on life skills—public speaking, exchanging feedback, sustaining attention. Second, you'll provide coaching in one-on-one and small-group settings, leveraging real-time learning data to ensure every child progresses toward an ambitious weekly target.

Students should exit your workshops with expanded capabilities, and leave your coaching sessions with a strengthened belief in their own potential.

A teaching certificate or formal education background is not required. Some of our most effective educators in this role have come from youth athletics, children's theater, camp programs, and after-school enrichment. We seek someone children naturally respond to and strive to impress—someone who maintains high standards while ensuring every child feels valued.

This is a full-time, on-site position, five days per week, at an Alpha campus. Because we recruit nationally, job postings may appear in nearby cities that do not currently host a campus.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Facilitate hour-long life-skills workshops where K-3 students actively practice communication, focus, and feedback through speaking and movement—not seated at desks or listening to lectures.
  • Provide individualized and small-group coaching, utilizing Coachbot (Alpha's real-time learning-analytics platform) to identify students falling behind and intervene before weekly targets become unattainable.
  • Evaluate life-skill proficiency through Test2

Pass, Alpha's demonstrate-to-pass standard, continuing coaching until each student can actually perform the skill—mere participation does not satisfy the requirement.
  • Adapt your methods to suit the developmental stage in front of you: incorporating songs, movement, and storytelling for younger cohorts; emphasizing independence, self-monitoring, and accountability for 2nd and 3rd graders.
  • Establish sufficient trust with each child so they will take on challenging tasks in your presence and persist through initial failures.
  • Take ownership of your cohort's performance metrics. Student progress will be visible on a dashboard weekly, and accessible to the entire team.
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Delivering traditional academic lessons from the front of a classroom. Academic content is provided through adaptive software.
  • Creating curriculum materials from the ground up. You will refine and customize established playbooks, not design them from scratch.
  • Overseeing a quiet computer lab. If students are working independently while you remain stationary, the model is not functioning correctly.
  • Reducing expectations when a student encounters difficulty. You advance the student toward the objective—never adjust the objective to meet the student.
  • Grading assignments, setting homework, or managing routine parent correspondence.
  • Working remotely or on a part-time schedule. This position is on-site, five days per week, at a physical campus.
