Summary

The VDC Manager leads the firm's digital delivery strategy across both design and construction. This role is responsible for BIM management with the design group and integration, coordination, and optimization of BIM technology with preconstruction and construction. The VDC Manager ensures that digital tools, workflows, and data are aligned to improve project outcomes, enhance collaboration, and support efficient project execution from concept through closeout.

Responsibilities

BIM & Design Technology
  • Establish, implement, and maintain firm-wide BIM standards, templates, best practices, and levels of development (LOD)
  • Oversee model development, coordination, and quality across project teams
  • Support project teams in model setup, execution, and troubleshooting
  • Lead clash detection and interdisciplinary coordination processes
  • Facilitate clash coordination meetings efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure models are structured to support downstream construction use
  • Coordinate BIM expectations with design build partners and consultants
  • Manage BIM execution plans (BEPs) and project-specific digital delivery requirements
Preconstruction & Construction Technology (VDC)
  • Lead VDC processes including model-based coordination and constructability reviews
  • Partner with preconstruction and operations teams to leverage models for estimating, logistics planning, and sequencing
  • Support project teams with model access, layout and survey control, QA/QC workflows
  • Support design, project management, and field software integration in consolidated environment (e.g., Autodesk Forma, Procore, etc.)
  • Support project teams with various image capture technology including: 360? cameras, laser scanning, point cloud processing and analysis, photogrammetry, etc.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies where beneficial
Leadership, Strategy, & Continuous Improvement
  • Serve as the firm's internal expert and champion for BIM/VDC processes
  • Train and mentor staff across design and construction teams
  • Develop documentation, guides, and standards for consistent implementation
  • Collaborate with leadership to align VDC strategy with firm goals
  • Identify opportunities to improve project delivery through technology and process innovation, for example: development of BIM to support downstream construction use (quantities, 4D scheduling, phasing, logistics)
  • Track and evaluate the effectiveness of VDC initiatives
  • Support firmwide technology planning and investment decisions
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in BIM/VDC
Job Requirements Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5?10+ years of experience in BIM/VDC within design, construction, or design-build environments
  • Strong proficiency in BIM authoring, coordination, and visualization tools (e.g., Revit, Enscape, Navisworks, Autodesk Forma or similar platforms)
  • Proficiency in project management and construction software/hardware (e.g., Autodesk Forma, Trimble, Bluebeam, etc.)
  • Experience supporting both design teams and construction/field operations
  • Understanding of construction methods, sequencing, civil and structural survey standards
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal, written, and graphic communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with minimal direction
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Self-motivated and goal focused with a desire to learn and grow within an integrated design-build environment
