The CompanyOur client is a leading independent power platform that owns and operates a diversified portfolio of utility-scale wind, solar, and natural gas generation assets across the United States. The organization is focused on delivering reliable and sustainable energy solutions while continuing to expand its footprint in both renewable and conventional generation.
The RoleDue to continued growth, the SCADA Engineering Manager will lead the strategy, development, and execution of Operational Technology (OT) and SCADA systems across a diverse generation fleet. This role is responsible for ensuring system reliability, data integrity, cybersecurity compliance, and scalability of SCADA infrastructure while managing a team of engineers and collaborating cross-functionally.
This individual will play a key role in modernizing SCADA architecture, enabling advanced analytics initiatives, and supporting real-time operational performance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of SCADA/OT engineers
- Establish best practices, performance standards, and technical development plans
- Own design, standardization, and long-term roadmap for SCADA systems
- Support both renewable and thermal generation assets
- Oversee SCADA infrastructure including servers, RTUs, data historians, and communications networks
- Ensure systems are secure, reliable, and up to date
- Lead development of data pipelines, dashboards, and visualization tools (e.g., Ignition Perspective)
- Support operations, analytics, and decision-making
- Manage integration between plant control systems, remote operations centers, OEM SCADA platforms, and enterprise systems
- Provide technical leadership in diagnosing and resolving SCADA and communication issues
- Ensure compliance with NERC CIP and related standards
- Partner closely with IT and cybersecurity teams
- Act as liaison between operations, engineering, IT, and third-party vendors
- Lead system upgrades, refresh cycles, and capital planning efforts
- Support digitalization, advanced analytics, and data-driven initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8–15+ years of experience in SCADA, OT systems, or power generation environments
- Prior leadership or team management experience required
- Experience supporting renewable and/or thermal generation assets
- SCADA systems, RTUs, and communication protocols (DNP3, OPC, Modbus)
- Platforms such as Ignition, Wonderware, or Cimplicity
- Experience with SEL-RTAC, PLCs, and control system integration
- Familiarity with NERC CIP and cybersecurity practices
- Strong leadership and team-building skills

- Excellent problem-solving and analytical ability
- Strong communication across technical and non-technical teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available)
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and perform field inspections
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to travel up to 10%
This role operates in a professional office setting with periodic travel to operating facilities, including active construction and power generation sites.
