This role is part of the Cloud Deployment Operations Organization, driving the full solution lifecycle and field deployment services for Motorola Solutions’ CAPE drone command-and-control software. We specialize in assessing customer requirements, designing complex system architectures, and executing sophisticated cloud deployments. Our mission is to empower public safety organizations to launch advanced Drone as a First Responder (DFR) programs that ensure seamless operations and community safety.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated, seasoned, and technically proficient Drone as First Responder (DFR) Solutions Architect with a strong background in drone technology to support Motorola Solutions' advanced drone command-and-control software, CAPE, which empowers public safety agencies to establish and manage sophisticated DFR programs. The role is crucial for assessing customer requirements, designing end-to-end DFR solutions, leading deployments, and providing expert post-implementation support to ensure optimal and life‑saving operations.
Responsibilities- Consult with public safety customers to conduct detailed needs assessments and design tailored DFR solutions.
- Define system architecture, hardware requirements, and integration strategies based on current infrastructure, networks, and goals.
- Architect end‑to‑end data workflows ensuring live video streams, telemetry, and evidence comply with CJIS security standards and retention policies.
- Lead full lifecycle deployment of DFR and tactical drone programs, from site readiness to system launch.
- Conduct physical site readiness and infrastructure engineering assessments, including rooftop placements, docking stations, power delivery, weatherproofing, and zoning compliance.
- Ensure system launch and full operational status, closing CPQ operational steps and providing customer training.
- Integrate CAPE with CAD and RMS systems, configure automated dispatch triggers for autonomous drone launches.
- Advise on regulatory compliance and FAA waivers for advanced DFR operations, including BVLOS and TBVLOS clearances.
- Support post‑deployment customer issues, diagnosing complex network and hardware problems.
- Provide onsite support (50‑75% travel) and remote support as needed.
- Support sales team through client meetings, product demonstrations, demo logistics, and flight permissions.
- Consult internal training team as SME to develop training methodologies.
- Proven experience in solution architecture, systems integration, or technical deployment engineering in the UAS/drone industry or public safety sector.
- Deep familiarity with IP networking, cellular data routing, cloud computing, software integrations, and CAD/RMS systems.
- Strong understanding of current DFR market trends, competitive ecosystems, and advanced drone hardware docking technologies. Must be willing to travel 50‑75% of the time.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Aviation, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years of drone‑related work experience.
- Valid FAA Part 107 Remote Drone Pilot Certification.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely; employer sponsorship not available.
- Ability to obtain required background clearance per government customer.
$85,000 – $95,000 USD
