Role Overview
The Sourcing Engineer I supports the connection between Technology & Development Engineering, Category Management, PLC Project Management, and external suppliers. This role leverages an engineering background and technical experience in materials, design, and manufacturing methods to assist with early supplier involvement, supplier discovery, cost and technical studies, and proposal support aligned to technology roadmaps and category strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Problem Solving:
Analyze and resolve complex material, design, and manufacturing sourcing engineering challenges by applying advanced technical knowledge and innovative solutions. - Should Cost:
Perform technical analysis of materials, design, and manufacturing processes to develop estimated cost structures used by Sourcing Managers in negotiations, and NPI CTC development. - Project Leadership:
Lead small-scale sourcing projects, coordinating resources and managing timelines to ensure successful execution and delivery. - Cross-Team
Collaboration:
Partner with internal teams and external subject matter experts to integrate sourcing strategies and optimize engineering processes. - Knowledge Sharing:
Provide guidance, training, and expertise in advanced sourcing engineering practices. - Market Analysis:
Evaluate industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and enhance the organization’s sourcing strategies and market position.

Deep knowledge of primary and related technical domains. - Complex Problem Solving:
Ability to analyze and resolve intricate technical issues using innovative approaches. - Project Leadership:
Skilled at leading small projects, managing risks, and ensuring timely completion with limited supervision. - Independent Work:

Convey difficult or sensitive information clearly and persuasively to diverse stakeholders. - Relationship Building:
Establish and maintain strong connections with internal and external experts. - Analytical Thinking:
Evaluate multiple data sources to inform strategic decisions and enhance project outcomes. - Consensus Building:
Facilitate agreement among team members and stakeholders to achieve unified project goals. - Strategic Planning:
Integrate best practices and market knowledge to develop and execute effective sourcing strategies. - Technical Documentation:
Create comprehensive, precise technical documents to support project implementation and knowledge sharing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Preferred: 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Estimated travel: 10–20% to suppliers, trade shows, and other company sites.
Approximately 10–20% of the time.
EligibilityThis position requires use of information subject to ITAR/EAR. All applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible for required authorizations.
CompensationEstimated annual base pay: $93,000 (minimum) – $149,000 (maximum).
