Farnsworth Group is seeking an Engineering Technician – Asset Management with expertise in asset management, facility condition assessments, and the built environment. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting facility assessments and asset evaluations to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of mechanical systems and infrastructure.

What You’ll Do
  • Data collection & analysis: gather and analyze data related to assets and systems, including drawings, specifications, building automation system, and maintenance management system information.
  • Configure facility systems in software databases (structural, architectural, civil, electrical, fire protection, mechanical, plumbing). Familiarity with the UNIFORMAT convention is valued.
  • Provide assessment teams with orientation on assessment techniques, prepare data collection devices, and guide field assessment teams.
  • Perform facility condition assessments at varying levels of detail to evaluate the condition of assets, systems, and infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other key systems.
  • Apply strong understanding of mechanical systems, building infrastructure, and facility operations.
  • Communicate findings clearly through written reports and presentations to stakeholders.
  • Analyze data, interpret assessment results, and provide actionable recommendations for asset management improvements.
  • Solve complex facility issues and asset performance challenges through critical thinking.
  • Create comprehensive assessment reports with detailed findings, including recommendations for repair, replacement, or upgrades, and prioritize actions based on criticality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Perform quality control reviews on work products, including asset configuration, assessment results, and reporting.
  • Provide scopes and opinions of probable costs for required repairs and replacements.
What You’ll Need
  • Associate’s degree in a mechanical or construction-related discipline (other technical-related degrees considered).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with built environments (or equivalent field experience).
  • 2+ years in consulting on built infrastructure asset management or facility management preferred.
  • Ability to interact with Project Managers and Discipline Technical Leads to ensure compliance with project scope objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems: architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection.
  • Capacity to support several large complex projects simultaneously and complete small projects independently.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge.
  • Experience with RS Means and providing opinions of probable cost for repairs and replacements.
  • Variable travel up to 25% of the time to support field operations.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 (determined by education, experience, and internal equity)
