Job Overview
The Civil/Structural Engineer2/3 is responsible for technical design to support proposals, engineer‑of‑record review, and operations support for a utility‑scale PV EPC contractor in the US. Their primary function is to lead proposal‑level design efforts on a project level and work closely with the Estimating Department, Operations, and Senior Renewables leadership to ensure designs are accurate, within scope, meet code, and are in line with the corporation’s directive across all Renewables project locations.
PrimaryJob Responsibilities
- Review client‑provided reports such as Geotechnical, Topographical, Environmental/Ecological, Hydrological, and Flooding studies.
- Conduct an approximate 10–30% design of civil and structural aspects of a project with a specific focus on pile‑design, grading, roads, and erosion control.
- Evaluate technology, materials, and alternatives with Procurement to position Primoris as an industry leader.
- Capture scope of work, design aspects, and specific client requirements in coordination with the Estimating team.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their engineering and design needs.
- Lead the engineering group to conceptualize and design efficient and competitive PV systems.
- Support project teams by working with the Engineer of Record to address civil and structural questions and concerns during the design and construction phase.
- Review and comment on the Structural design package provided by the Engineer of Record at 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC milestones.
- Support multiple project site locations with travel up to 15% of the time.
- B.S. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET‑accredited college.
- Professional Engineering License (or geotechnical equivalent) preferred.
- 6+ years of Engineering and/or construction experience preferred.
- Preference for experience in Construction, Solar, BESS, Renewable Energy, or Power Generation.
- In‑depth knowledge of federal, state, and local structural regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Interpersonal skills – present information to a small group of employees or subcontractors.
- Effective communication skills (oral, written, listening, presentation) with subcontractors and employees.
- Computer literacy and ability to learn new software efficiently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio).
- Strong organization, scheduling, planning, and prioritization skills.
- Advanced construction drawing knowledge, including layouts, references, notes, and best practices.
- Ability to follow safety rules without cutting corners and understand the intent of those rules.
- Proven experience with L‑Pile design software preferred.

$90,000–$140,000 annually, dependent on experience, qualifications, and competencies.
