Responsibilities
- Build and maintain working relationships with state regulatory agencies in Colorado and Wyoming while advancing permitting strategies
- Develop and maintain environmental policies, processes, and compliance documentation
- Interpret federal, state, and local regulations
- Assess environmental risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and execute approved actions
- Lead or support environmental project planning, including scheduling, cost estimation, impact assessments, and reporting
- Prepare and submit complex environmental permit applications, renewals, approvals, and variances
- Maintain permitting schedules aligned with project milestones
- Conduct environmental compliance audits and due diligence investigations
- Identify training needs and provide guidance, mentorship, and training
- Monitor regulatory changes, including FERC, NEPA, Clean Water Act, ESA, and NHPA
- Coordinate construction-phase compliance requirements and track implementation to closure
- Improve air, water, waste management, and remediation systems
- Prepare status reports and briefings for leadership and project stakeholders
- Manage other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree
- Environmental experience: minimum four (4) years for Environmental Specialist III or minimum eight (8) years for Environmental Specialist IV
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Safety as the utmost priority
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and PC skills
- Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental permitting processes, including FERC and NEPA requirements
- Ability to manage multiple permits across large-scale projects with aggressive deadlines
- Skill in developing permitting timelines and integrating them into overall project schedules
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for agency coordination and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage external consultants effectively
- Commitment to environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance
- Proactive approach to identifying and resolving permitting challenges
Demonstrates expertise in environmental policy development, regulatory compliance, and permitting processes, with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and project management. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor others while ensuring adherence to environmental stewardship principles.
