POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior RMA Failure Analysis Engineer is responsible for investigating customer-returned products (RMAs), determining root causes of failures, and driving corrective actions that improve customer satisfaction and product quality. This role supports Advanced Energy's RF generators, DC generators, matching networks, and high-voltage products through technical analysis, failure investigation, and data-driven problem solving.

Working closely with global Service, Quality, Operations, and Engineering teams, this position analyzes field failures, identifies trends, and collaborates on solutions to reduce future product escapes and improve overall field performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare complete, accurate, and timely failure analysis reports for internal and external customers.
  • Review warranty and non-warranty RMAs to support accurate and current field quality reporting.
  • Collaborate with Operations to identify and mitigate risks associated with field escapes.
  • Lead or participate in 8D teams to resolve identified problems.
  • Identify, document, and communicate the most probable root causes of failures and drive corrective actions.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of failure data, including conditions, symptoms, and failure modes.
  • Identify failure trends and provide quantitative analysis of findings.
  • Support multiple teams independently and mentor others on investigation techniques and historical trends.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of products and applications.
  • Lead implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) resulting from failure investigations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance failure analysis processes, product reliability, and field quality performance.

Present technical findings and corrective actions to internal stakeholders and customers as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
  • Proficient troubleshooting and technical knowledge of electronic circuits, components, PCBs, and manufacturing processes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical findings.
  • Working knowledge of quality methodologies and tools preferred.
  • Experience utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, FMEA, and CAPA processes preferred.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and competing priorities.
