Overview
The Colorado Department of Revenue’s Division of Gaming seeks an Auditor II to ensure limited gaming is conducted honestly, fairly, and competitively. The role focuses on sports betting and fantasy sports, ensuring integrity through education, compliance, and enforcement. All applications must come from Colorado state residents.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute formal audit plans for sports betting operations, ensuring strict adherence to industry rules and regulations.
- Conduct thorough financial and operational audits to evaluate the integrity of betting activities.
- Navigate and deconstruct complex datasets, transforming fragmented financial information into clear, structured narratives.
- Provide technical support and guidance to audit staff throughout engagement.
- Draft formal audit and management reports, present findings to licensees, and recommend disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Collaborate with Sports Betting leadership to draft and present administrative action documents, monitor implementation, and conduct follow‑up reviews.
Manage the financial integrity of sports betting operations by performing rigorous audits of tax filings, comparing them against monthly statistical reports, and ensuring all tax collections are precise and compliant. Design draft reports, charts, and graphs to visualize emerging industry trends and reconcile reporting discrepancies.
Auditing OperationsBased on evidence gathered through interviews, investigations, and detailed examinations, formulate expert conclusions and develop preliminary audit findings for review.
Onsite AuditsPerform onsite audits as requested by the Division and attend in‑person meetings at 1707 Cole Blvd, Suite 300, Golden, CO 80401. Audits and meetings are required at least twice a month, possibly more based on the Division’s needs.
Minimum Qualifications- Six (6) years of relevant auditing experience related to this position.
- OR a combination of related education and/or experience equal to six (6) years.
- Current, valid licensure as a CPA from the Colorado Board of Accountancy or current, valid CIA certificate substitutes for five (5) years of the requirement.
- Pass a background check and tax check.
- Pass a pre‑employment background investigation.
- Possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license (at the time of application).
- Attend all DOR compliance training modules.
- Extensive background in conducting complex financial audits within highly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of gaming and/or taxation rules and regulations.
- Experience with relational databases, scripting languages, and data analysis.
- Knowledge of the sports betting industry and terminology.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or GGPlot
