Role DescriptionThis full-time, on-site Tax Preparer role is based in Fort Collins, CO. The Tax Preparer is responsible for preparing individual and small business tax returns, reviewing supporting documentation, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws. Day-to-day tasks include gathering and organizing client financial information, analyzing financial statements, identifying applicable deductions and credits, and resolving basic tax questions. The role also involves communicating with clients to clarify data, explain tax outcomes, and provide guidance on future tax planning.
The Tax Preparer will collaborate with other team members to maintain accurate records, meet filing deadlines, and support continuous process improvements.
- Strong skills in Tax Preparation and practical experience working with Tax returns for individuals and small businesses.
- Understanding of Tax Law and general Tax regulations, with the ability to apply rules accurately and ethically.
- Ability to interpret and work with Financial Statements and other financial documents.
- Knowledge of Finance principles relevant to personal and small business tax situations.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software and standard office productivity tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills for client interactions.
- Ability to work on-site in Fort Collins, CO, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
- Relevant certification or credential (e.g., IRS PTIN holder, EA, CPA, or equivalent experience) is preferred but not required.
