STATEMENT OF DUTIES

SUMMARY OF JOB CLASSIFICATION:
Performs entry/developing-level Probation Officer responsibilities, including investigation, assessment, supervision, resource coordination, and monitoring of clients’ court-ordered for services. Completes required training courses and programs.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

This posting will be used to create an eligibility list (Talent Pool), to hire a full-time/part-time employee. First review date of applications will be (3/9/26). New applications will be reviewed on the 1st of the month thereafter, and this posting will close on 4/30/26. Applications will no longer be accepted after 4/30/26. The Talent Pool or eligibility list will be valid for 10 months from the closing date of 4/30/26.

This position is part of a progressive job series, and placement will be determined based on minimum qualifications and the relevant experience of the successful applicant. Please refer to the links below for detailed job descriptions of the roles within the series.

There are two requisitions posted:
Probation Officer and Senior Probation Officer. We will fill one position within this series based on the district's hiring needs and the qualifications and relevant experience of the selected applicant.

This position requires excellent customer service, computer, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail. There is some variety in the performance of assigned work procedures. Assignment of staff may include a combination of team functions. This position may be housed at any of our three locations within Larimer County (Fort Collins Prospect Park Way, Fort Collins Midpoint Drive and Loveland Police and Courts Building).

The stated salary range represents entry level through maximum compensation for the position as a Probation Officer. Salary offers are based on a wide variety of factors including a candidate’s paid relevant work experience and the Judicial Department Compensation Plan. Salary growth within the job classification is based on market adjustment when applicable as well as the above cited compensation plan.

Officers will be eligible to move to Senior Probation Officer classification per the HR personnel rules which includes an increase and movement to a higher pay band.

  • Performs case management duties including documenting client related activities, reviewing client documents and court orders, and managing the client's e-file.
  • Conducts face-to-face appointments and interviews. Conducts on-going assessments to determine treatment needs and risk to the community. Develops appropriate case plans to guide supervision and ensure compliance with conditions imposed by the court.
