Employees working at locations operating 24/7 earn a differential. Shift differentials are also available for evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Role Overview

As a Peer Specialist you will use your life experience from your personal journey of recovery of addiction and/or mental health challenges to engage, advocate, and link clients with Summit Stone Health resources.

Essential Duties
  • Utilize your life experience from your personal journey of recovery of addiction and/or mental health challenges to perform direct client care for clients needing peer support services.
  • Provide direct client care through individual and group sessions face‑to‑face, phone or telehealth contact.
  • Connect clients to formal or informal treatment activities, services, and/or support.
  • Services may be community-based and centered around client's recovery goals.
  • Peer Specialist cultivates mutual, supportive relationships with clients as they navigate through systems. This looks like highlighting strengths, sitting in discomfort, and walking side‑by‑side with clients as they move toward goals of their choosing.
Requirements
  • Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use issues (either personally or as a family member) with 2+ years of sustained recovery required.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record required.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required at certain locations.
  • Must complete training in SAHMSA Peer Core Competencies and COPA code of ethics prior to meeting with clients. (Training is included during the onboarding process.)
  • Must obtain Colorado Peer Certification (CPFS) through COPA (Colorado Practitioners Association) within 6 months of employment. All trainings, experience hours, and payment for this certification are provided in-house.
Highly Desired
  • High school diploma or completion of G.E.D. preferred
  • Bilingual/bi-cultural preferred

Longview Campus is the new Acute Care Behavioral Health facility which serves Larimer County residents in need of urgent help with mental health and/or substance use disorders. Summit Stone has the privilege of partnering closely with Larimer County on this venture. For more information .
