Pay: $52.33 - $83.73 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option
Manages the daily operations of the Environmental Health and Safety Department to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.
Responsibilities- Functions as subject matter expert on local, state and federal legislation and agencies relating to environmental and occupational health and safety.
- Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives that directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
- Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management. Performs and oversees scheduling, recruitment, and payroll.
- Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations. Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitors usage, and oversees proper working order and/or stock supplies.
- Files reports and conducts activities that ensure all laws and regulations are met.
- Controls environmental hazards or stresses arising from the workplace.
- Educates employees on hazardous materials safety.
- Conducts and evaluates disaster response.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field. Preferred:
Master's degree. - Preferred:
Professional certification in ASHERA, OSHA 40 hours Hazardous Waste Operations, or other related fields. 3 years in Environmental Health and Safety field. Experience in safety inspections and environmental reporting. Preferred: 1 year supervisory experience. 3 years in Environmental Health and Safety field in a health care setting.
